National Summit of Mining Communities Description: The concept of the Summit is a grassroots gathering of mining towns where “communities can talk to communities”, not only about common issues and challenges, but also about success stories that arose from adversity. Our success depends upon the synergy of sharing achievements and solutions to the issues that face every community that is subject to the “boom and bust” cycles so well known in mining. The desired outcome of the Summit will be shared experiences that will help communities avert or reduce severe economic dislocation generally associated with mining industries. At the end of the Summit we hope that everyone will have a success story they can take home and use to help them with the problems that face their boom and bust community.
