• Cleanups < Spring - Fall >
  Typically EPCAMR coordinates several (at least 5) cleanups per year on abandoned mine sites or near streams. Illegal dumping on mine lands and near streams is a real problem in the coal region. Help EPCAMR change that paradigm!

• Community Gardening < Spring - Fall >
  Once sites are cleaned up, some are ripe for beautification projects to deter future mistreatment of the land. We need volunteers to help us weed, upkeep hand built stone walls and remove graffiti. Help EPCAMR keep these projects looking good!

• Festivals and Children's Activities < Year Round >
  EPCAMR is asked to present or display at many functions. These can be as simple as setting up the EPCAMR display and talk to people or as complex as conducting an AMD tie dye workshop. There are a few that we miss because we simply do not have enough time in the day. Educational events with children are an "investment for the future." With your help we can make it to every event. Help us spread the word and teach the community about past mining issues!

• Internships
  EPCAMR does offer internships, in partnership with the Office of Surface Mining. These internships generally become available in the spring, and last through the summer months. • OSM/VISTA Positions and the ACCWT
  The Appalachian Coal Country Watershed Team, or ACCWT, was created out of a partnership between the Office of Surface Mining and the AmeriCorps*VISTA program. OSM/VISTAs are full-time volunteers committed to serving their nonprofit sponsor organization (in this case, EPCAMR) for one year in a capacity-building function, bringing much-needed skills to help revive the coal mining regions of Appalachia. The five core goals of the program are capacity building for organization sustainability, watershed research and monitoring, outreach and education, historical and economic revitalization, and professional skill-building for the volunteer her- or himself.
